Vibrators Guide
Vibrators
Vibrators use vibration to stimulate erogenous zones. They come in endless styles and may be used externally, internally, alone or with a partner. Six decisions narrow the whole category down.
Browse the collectionSix decisions, and the rest is detail.
The choice feels overwhelming because the range is enormous, not because it is complicated. Answer these six and you will have narrowed hundreds of options to a handful.
External, internal or both
External covers the clitoris and surrounding area, internal is worn or inserted, and combination shapes do both at once. Most people start external.
Rumbly or buzzy
Rumbly vibration travels deeper and is generally preferred for longer use. Buzzy sits on the surface and can numb more quickly.
How quiet it needs to be
If you share walls, this matters more than power. Noise is the most common regret in this category.
Material
Body-safe silicone, glass or steel. Non-porous only, seamless if possible, and nothing unlabelled.
Rechargeable or battery
Rechargeable is stronger and cheaper over time. Battery models are useful as a spare or for travel.
Waterproof or splash-resistant
Fully waterproof can be submerged and is far easier to clean. Splash-resistant means wipe down only.
What each style is actually for.
Bullet
Small, precise and quiet. The most common starting point, and easy to travel with.
Clitoral suction
Air pulses rather than direct contact, which suits people who find vibration too intense.
Wand
Larger, with deeper broader vibration. Doubles genuinely well as a muscle massager.
G-spot
Curved to reach the front internal wall, where firm pressure is often preferred to vibration.
Rabbit
Internal and external at once. Fit matters more than power, since anatomy varies considerably.
Rings and remotes
Worn or partner-controlled, designed to be used together rather than handed back and forth.
Four habits that make the difference.
Start on the lowest setting
You can always go up. Opening at full power is how people decide something is too intense when it was only too fast.
Use lubricant
Reduces friction and makes longer sessions comfortable. Water-based is safe with every material.
Move it around
Sustained pressure in one spot can cause temporary numbness. Shifting position keeps sensation alive.
Take the pressure off yourself
Treat early sessions as learning what you like rather than aiming at a particular outcome. That usually gets you there faster.

Looking after it properly.
Before and after, every time
Warm water and a mild, unscented cleanser. Let it dry fully before storing.
Mind the charging port
Only submerge if it states it is waterproof, and never submerge the charging contacts.
Store separately
Keep pieces in their own pouch so materials do not react against one another in a drawer.
Replace when worn
Tackiness, tearing or a lingering odour means it has reached the end of its life.
Asked quietly, answered plainly.
I have never used one. Where should I start?+
Something small, external and simple, such as a bullet. Start on the lowest setting, use lubricant, and treat the first few uses as getting to know what you like.
Will I become reliant on it?+
This is the most common worry and it is not supported by the evidence. Sensitivity is not used up. If anything feels dulled, easing off intensity for a short period is usually all that is needed.
What does rumbly versus buzzy mean?+
Rumbly vibration is lower and travels deeper into tissue. Buzzy is higher and sits on the surface, and tends to numb faster. Most people prefer rumbly once they have felt the difference.
How do I know if a material is body-safe?+
Look for clearly labelled silicone, glass or stainless steel. Avoid anything unlabelled, or described only as jelly or soft plastic, which cannot be properly sanitised.
Can I use one with a partner?+
Yes, and most people find it easier than expected. Agree beforehand rather than in the moment, and wash it between people or use a fresh condom.
How is it delivered?+
In plain, unbranded packaging with a discreet billing descriptor. Nothing on the outside indicates what is inside.
