Ignore mode counts, decibel claims and anything described as revolutionary. These are the three that decide whether you keep using it.

Medical grade silicone, borosilicate glass or stainless steel. All three are non porous, which means they can actually be cleaned. Anything porous holds bacteria and cannot be sanitised, whatever the packaging says. If a listing will not name the material, that is the answer. Our standard is published.

- Start on the lowest setting. You can always go up. Starting high is how people decide vibration is not for them.
- Use lubricant, water based, more than you think. It is not a sign anything is wrong.
- Do not aim at an outcome. Treat the first few uses as finding out what you like rather than getting somewhere.
- Give it three goes before deciding. Almost nothing works the first time, including this.
Things you can safely ignore
- The number of modes. Ten patterns is not better than three. Most people find one setting and stay there.
- Peak power claims. No standard measurement exists behind them, so they cannot be compared between brands.

Common questions

How much should a first one cost?

Will anyone know what has arrived?
No. Plain outer packaging with no branding or product names, a neutral sender name on the label, and a discreet descriptor on your statement. If it arrives any other way, the order is free.
Will I become reliant on it?
No, and there is no evidence for it. Temporary numbness during a long session is normal and passes. Bodies adapt to whatever they get used to and adapt back, which is true of hands as well as devices.
What if I do not like it?
Then you have learned something useful about what you respond to, which is worth $39. Different sensations suit different people, and disliking vibration does not mean disliking all of it. Suction is a genuinely different experience, and so is pressure.
Should I tell my partner?
