The premise

Understanding what happened to you is not the same as recovering from it.

Some patterns did not begin with you. They were passed down, absorbed, and stored somewhere that talking about them does not reach.

The Residue framework offers a way of understanding how inherited patterns, unprocessed experience and embodied memory shape identity, behaviour and belonging. It is not another set of insights about your childhood. It is about the gap between knowing your history with complete accuracy and still being unable to feel your way back into your own body.

This companion is the short version. It introduces the language, the model, and enough of the practice to tell you whether the full work is for you.

The core model

The Three Brains.

Head, heart and gut. Three systems that hold experience differently, and rarely agree with each other about what is safe.

HeadWhat you know, what you can explain, and the story you can narrate accurately without it changing anything.
HeartWhat you feel, what you avoid feeling, and the relationships those patterns keep reproducing.
GutWhat your body decided long before you had words, and what it still braces for.

Most approaches work on one and hope the others follow. Residue works on the gap between them, which is where inherited patterns actually live.

What is inside

Four things you will have by the end.

The framework, in plain language

What inherited residue is, how it forms, and why it persists long after the original circumstances have gone.

The Three Brains model

How head, heart and gut hold experience differently, and what happens when they disagree.

Where it shows up

The patterns in identity, relationship and behaviour that this explains, and how to recognise your own.

What to do with it

The first steps of the practice, and an honest account of what this work asks of you before you commit to any of it.

Before you download

Who this is for.

Read it if

  • You can explain your own history clearly and it has changed nothing about how you feel.
  • You keep meeting the same pattern in different relationships.
  • You suspect some of what you carry did not start with you.
  • You want the model before you decide whether to do the work.

What it is not

  • Not therapy, and not a substitute for it. It is education, from an educator rather than a clinician.
  • Not a diagnosis. It offers language, not a label.
  • Not a sample chapter of the book. It is its own thing, written to stand alone.
  • Not a trial version. It is complete, and free, and you can take it and never buy anything.

It costs nothing and it takes an afternoon.

If it lands

Where this goes next.

The companion is deliberately the smallest version. If the framework explains something for you, there are two places it continues, and one of them is also free.

  • RESIDUE, the book. The full argument, at length, with the practice section and an accompanying workbook. Read about it.
  • RECLAIMED, if what you are carrying came from sexual assault. Trauma informed, paced entirely by you, and it never asks you to revisit what happened. Read about it.
  • The First Step Home, also free, if you would rather see how the courses are taught before committing to anything. Take it.
  • Or nothing at all. The guide is complete on its own and there is no obligation attached to it.

Educational, not clinical. This guide is not therapy or counselling, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and sits alongside professional care rather than replacing it. If you are in crisis or need clinical support, please seek that first. Questions are welcome at hello@schoolofsexualwellness.com.
